Description

An Accounts/Finance Assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for carrying out routine financial activities and support for businesses and organisations of all types and sizes, such as data entry, month end management accounts and/or year-end financial statements. In addition the Assistant Accountant may find themselves involved in regulatory financial requirements such as the completion of VAT returns or assisting in the preparation of tax computations.  In addition to the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours required for this apprenticeship, an Assistant Accountant apprentice will study the following modules to achieve AAT L3 qualification:

  • Advanced Bookkeeping
  • Final Accounts Preparation
  • Management Accounting: Costings
  • Indirect Tax
  • Ethics for Accountants
  • Spreadsheets for Accounting
  • Synoptic Assessment

Apprentices will attend a 6.5hr college lesson on a day release basis to study AAT Level 3 to underpin the knowledge elements of the apprenticeship. In addition apprentices are required to build a portfolio of evidence during their time on the programme.Each apprentice will be allocated a Coach to support ongoing learning and preparation for EPA. In addition Progress Reviews will take place regularly to ensure the apprentice is on track.

The two EPA assessment methods are:

  • Synoptic end-test
  • A Portfolio and reflective discussion
