George Tubb, an 18-year-old Level 3 Business student from Cirencester College, has been running a successful freelance graphic design business ‘Gtdesign’ alongside his studies. Gtdesign offers design branding such as business cards and brochures to various companies.

George’s interest in graphic design and business started developing in 2015, when he set up an Instagram account dedicated to his favourite football team through which he designs, creates, and sells merchandise to his followers from all over the world. By 2020 the account had over 26,000 followers, and It was managing a successful design-based Instagram account that inspired George to set up his business, and start designing for local companies.

To support his growing interest in business and marketing, George completed work experience for multiple graphic design companies, where he was also able to expand his skills further by learning how to use different design software.

George has gained eight loyal clients since launching Gtdesign.

George said ‘To this day my business is doing really well. I am close to gaining new clients and have gained a lot of views on my website that I design and run. My Instagram page to promote my business has also been a success gaining over 200 followers’

One of George’s business teachers Juliet Weeramanthri said ‘George works hard in and out of class, giving 100% to his studies. He is inquisitive about how businesses operate and engaged in wider reading to understand the subjects he studied in class. Whilst on work experience George was able to use the knowledge and skills he had learnt and proved to be a valuable asset to the business he went to’

After he leaves Cirencester College, George is planning on going to University to study Marketing and Business, whilst keeping his freelance business running at the same time.
