Congratulations to T-level Business Management and Administration student Kai, who has been named Stonehouse Council’s Young Person of the Year for the fantastic work he has been doing on his industry placement.

All T-level students are required to spend at least 45 days in industry to gain first-hand experience of a modern-day working environment in their chosen sector, and Kai has been working with the Door Youth Project in Stroud since January.

“I’ve been doing a lot of admin work in the office”, said Kai, “I also made a video for The Door’s social media pages to promote that they were still open during the Easter holidays. This tied in with what I was learning in class at the time as we were looking at how businesses utilise social media. The environment at The Door is really nice and relaxed, I used to go to the youth centre there so it’s nice to be working with the team.”

Kai’s employers at The Door explained how Kai went above and beyond to storyboard, script, and film the video for their YouTube page.

This award is the second accolade Kai has received for his work at The Door, as he has also been nominated for Young Person of the Year in the Stroud News & Journal Community Awards.

“I found out quite recently that I was nominated”, said Kai, “Both of my sisters have won that award, so I was quite happy to be recognised as well!”.

After completing his T-level, Kai would like to start his own business. He said, “My lecturers have been sharing their industry knowledge and experience with me which will help me achieve this goal.”

Well done on this incredible achievement, Kai.
