Cirencester College was recently awarded CyberFirst Gold from the National Cyber Security Centre.
To win this award the College went through a rigorous assessment process including evaluating our digital curriculum strategy, having in place an effective team of specialist staff, our curriculum offer which includes A-level, T-level and apprenticeships, our enrichment offer and our work with feeder schools and wider community as well as our own engagement with this Cyber programme.
Charlotte Smith said “Cynam and the Southwest consortium that delivers the highly successful NCSC CyberFirst programme for schools and colleges are delighted to award Cirencester College with their Gold Award. It is richly deserved with all the work the college delivers to raise the profile of digital skills throughout its curriculum, enabling their students to be more readily prepared for a digital future.”
The award comes almost a year after Cirencester College officially opened the doors to the £4.8m Gloucestershire Digital Skills Centre, which is transforming digital education at the College. The project was funded through the Government’s ‘Getting Building Fund’ programme through GFirst LEP.
This award came shortly before the sad passing of Cirencester’s Principal Jim Grant. Jim was very proud to receive the award on behalf of the College and said at the time “We are delighted to be recognised as one of the very first CyberFirst Gold Colleges. Cyber is of critical important both locally and nationally and it is important that we enable our young people to progress into this exciting sector. Our new Digital Building and suite of Digital and Cyber T-levels are part of this, but we are proud to also be working with many local school partners in developing pathways and breaking down barriers for their pupils.”
