Recently, Sport and Physical Activity students participated in the delivery of a successful Panathlon event for primary school children.
Panathlon is a national charity which gives young people with disabilities and special educational needs the opportunity to take part in competitive sport.
The students worked with representatives from the charity to set up and lead teams of pupils from local primary schools in several sporting activities including parachute games, precision bean bag throwing, skittles, and boccia.
Sport and Physical Activity Lecturer, Ross Langworthy, said “Hosting the Primary School Panathlon Challenge event provided our Year 1 Sport and Physical Activity students with yet another opportunity to develop their skills and experience in leading sporting events.
We were delighted to welcome pupils from eight local primary schools and support the delivery of a truly inspiring event. The event offered our students the opportunity to lead stations, support event logistics and develop their communication and delivery styles.
We look forward to providing further opportunities for current and future cohorts to enhance their education with industry-specific experiences.”
