Introduction to Roundwood Timber Framing

Within this 1 day intensive course participants will experience a day in the life of a woodsman and engage in outdoor building activities, gaining an understanding of how roundwood timber house structures are built. Participants will gain practical experience in joint cutting, whilst experiencing the wellbeing benefits of working outside .

This is a funded course, so free to participants that:

  • have lived in the UK or EU for at least 3 years
  • are aged 19 and over

What topics are covered?

This course will cover timber framing theory and joint cutting.

Participants will be using tools such as saws and chisel

There will be lifting of items involved within the practical elements.

How will I learn?

Tutor led demonstrations followed by opportunities to conduct learnt tasks, this will be a hands on practical course.

 

What do I need to bring?

This course will be conducted outside with participants asked to dress accordingly to weather conditions.

Strong shoes are advised, preferably steel toe caps.
