Recently, nearly 40 Year 2 A-level Business students went to Paris to attend the Business Live Conference and visit Disneyland.
The Business Live Conference was held in the Cinema in the Disney Village, and the students were lucky enough to hear from three very different entrepreneurs, one of which had been on the Young Apprentice and had been fired by Sir Alan Sugar. The speakers shared their career journeys, and the students particularly enjoyed hearing of one entrepreneur’s efforts to tackle workplace culture in a bid to improve working environments and make them more accessible to everyone.
All three entrepreneurs spoke passionately about how they have taken risks, experienced failure, showed resilience, and never gave up.
Outside of the conference, the students had time to enjoy the Disneyland park, and spent time going on rides, seeing shows, attending parades and watching the fireworks. The students also relished the opportunity to immerse themselves in the French culture, food, language, and learn more about what the Disney brand is all about.
Year 2 student Jorja said, “It was amazing, everything was great about the trip from the teachers, hotel, and the coach trip”, and Kaylum said, “The trip was fun, enjoyable, and the conference was useful with actual business people.”
Kate Willett, Head of Business Studies, said “The Business Live Conference was such a fantastic experience for our students. They got to hear from three entrepreneurs who, after many failures, succeeded and are now successful business people. It shows you that any idea, however small, can be turned into a business with the right attitude, risk, resilience, and determination! It was also lovely to see 17-and 18-year-olds absolutely loving what Disney had to offer; they loved the thrilling rides as well as the more sedate ones, they queued to have their pictures taken with characters, bought souvenirs, enjoyed the fireworks, and told us that at even 18, Disney is still magical. They all had a great time with their friends and will hopefully remember this Business trip fondly from their time at College.”
