Congratulations to Year 2 A-level Business Students Charlie, Freddy and Jakub, who recently competed in the University of Gloucestershire Business Challenge, and won the Innovation and Entrepreneurial Award.

The university’s annual Business Challenge saw teams of A-level Business students from seven School Sixth Forms and FE Colleges in Gloucestershire take part in a Dragon’s Den style competition.

Charlie, Freddy and Jakub presented their business idea ‘Nature Crate’ to the judges. Nature Crate is a business focused on sustainability, which sells nature-based boxes which care for the environment. This idea was developed by the students for Cirencester College’s own annual A-level Business Dragons Den project in the Summer Term of the last academic year, and it was declared one of the joint winners. Part of the students’ prize was the opportunity to represent Cirencester College in the University of Gloucestershire Business Challenge.

In the lead up to the competition, Charlie, Freddy and Jakub worked extremely hard to develop Nature Crate further, and they thoroughly impressed the judges with their presentation. They competed against a range of business ideas with strong presentations, and became well deserved winners of the Innovation and Entrepreneurial Award.

Special mention to Jakub, who also won the Outstanding Professionalism award.

Kate Willett, Course Team Leader for A-level Business, said “We are really proud of what Charlie, Freddy and Jakub have achieved. This is the first time that we have had the opportunity to enter the winners of our College Dragon’s Den into the University of Gloucestershire’s Business Challenge, and for the students to have won those awards is fantastic and a testament to their positive can-do attitude, entrepreneurship and perseverance. They are all outstanding Business students, and they will take this experience and achievement with them when they leave College and become our entrepreneurs of the future!”
