Recently 26 Year One Geography students went on a residential trip to Somerset to put what they’ve learnt in class into practice and explore a range of physical and human geography landscapes; aiding them in the development of ideas for their upcoming coursework projects.

Over three days the students visited a number of locations to carry out research and data collection including Taunton, Minehead Butlins, Exmoor, including Tarr Steps, Porlock Weir and Glastonbury.

Student Jodie said “It was great to be able to explore a range of different places in Somerset and put geography into action”

Course Team Leader for Geography Thomas said “It was tremendous to get back down to Somerset after two years. The students demonstrated excellent skills this week and it was great to see them start coming up with some ideas for their coursework. The Human Geography students did some incredible data rich interviews with residents and different stakeholders about the role of Butlins in Minehead, I look forward to seeing their finished pieces of work”
