This week, pupils from Cirencester Primary School, Powell’s Primary School and Leighterton Primary School visited Cirencester College to participate in a Handball Festival planned and delivered by Year 2 OCR Sport and Physical Activity students, who are working towards completing a Handball Leaders Course with England Handball.

The students were required to plan and deliver a Handball Festival to the year 5 & 6 pupils, and had full autonomy over the planning of the day. This included creating risk assessments, planning various skills sessions and devising a tournament structure for the pupils in the afternoon.

Course team leader Damian Cuke said “Our students stepped up when challenged to plan and deliver with complete ownership of the event. They quickly observed the importance of planning in detail and the need for a contingency when hosting a large number of children. They performed exceptionally well on the day and will reflect on the process when planning their next large event which will be held after Christmas”.
